나를 위한 영어공부 시작 #1
아이작의 테마토크
Can you smell, see or hear "new'? I think so.
Did you ever Smell new "back to school" clothes, bags, notebooks, and pencils?
You can SEE sall sorts of new items and progrmas and teachers at school.
You can HEAR the sounds of friends getting together and talking about what they did over the summer break. You can also HEAR new things on the radio!
One way we greet each oter is simply by saying "What's new?" We want to hear new stories. We want to know what's new in our friend's life. We love new fashions. We enjoy new technology. And let's not foret the lastes "new" news about our favorite movie stars!
New is nice and exciting, but sometimes it makes me nervous. I miss my friends who gradutated. I miss the people I am used to seeing and hearing. "New:" means that I have to get used to something. "New: shoes are nice, but they aren't always cofortable. They take some getting used to.
A "new" day, a "new" week, and even a "new" season. Perhaps I should ahve a "new" attitude and welcome all this "new" stuff. It's time for some "new" adventures.
Well, a new days is out thre, and I ahve to make it mine.
I hope you feel the same way, too!

겉치레 넘치는 이메일 (밑줄만 살리기)
Dear Mr. Smith:
With the sun shine getting brighter day by day, summer seems close at hand. How are you getting along?
Well, I am writing to you regarding the transaction we made the day before yesterday.
Dear Mr. Brown:
Hi, Mr. Brown, it's me, Kim. Can you remember we exchanged the name cards at the party which was held at the Seoul Prince Hotel in early May? How is everything? I am surviving.
By the way, my boss, Mr. Park told me to make a contact with you concerning a buyout. May I call you next Monday? Let me explain to you the details of the contract then.
~~ 일부 겉치레 생략하고, 핵심은 Please allow me to explain the details of the contract to you at that time

I think we should move forward with the project
Personally, I believe we should promote Jack instead of Mike
In my opinion, we should do more research before making a decision
It seems to me that we are taking the wrong approach to this whole thing.
The way I see it, there's a good chance of us being taken over
I'd say we are in a lot of trouble
I'd like to point out something
Could I say something?
If you ask me, we should sign the contract
If you wnat to hear my two cents worth, we should turn down the offer.
I'd like to elaborate on that point, if you don't mind
I'd just like to add
Just one more thing
Do you think we are going to get laid off?
I think there's a good chance we might
In my opinion, you should take the job offer
I am not sure I agree. I would make more money, but I am not sure if I would be happier
I've heard from the grapevine that there's something going on between Jan and Mike
I know, and if you ask me, they will probably get married soon.
Just one more thing, When do I have to finish this by?
It seems to me that you've misunderstood me
Could I say something?
What do you think are the most important charateristics of a successful meeting?
In my view, the most importatn thing for a successful meeting is being prepared.
Would you elaborate on that?
Well, if everyone prepared well for a meeting, except for emergency meetings where there's no time for such preparation, you'd not only save time but get the most out of it.
What are some other important poitns?
I think people should fully understand the objectives of the meeting. Of course, the role of the chair is important.
You have a point there. The chair should keep control and keep the meeting focused on the objectives.
Exactly. If everyone understnads the objectvies of a meeting and if the chair does a good job, the meeting should reach its aims.
